Scholarships

In 1969, the SCL received its non-profit status and established the SCL Scholarship Board of Trustees to raise money for a yearly $200 scholarship to be awarded to a student of Classics. The original trustees were Susan Schearer, VA; Dennis Bartlow, IN; M. D. LaFountain NJ; Loeta Smith, CA; and Rodney Williams, KY. The first SCL Scholarship was awarded to Mary Beth Hannah of Kentucky in 1971.

HAL RATHER AWARD

Thanks to a bequest from the late Hal Rather (active NSCL member and popular co-host of the convention’s That’s Entertainment production) each year an NSCL member is able to attend NJCL Convention with the registration packet completely paid for.

Application closed for 2023.
